Seeing the Unseen

During Art Basel: Miami the art scene in Florida reaches its peak with many shows and museum exhibitions. This exhibition the Ringling in Sarasota covers contemporary Chinese Photography and Video. Artists we covered before in this blog like Liu Bolin and Li Wei (picture) it also featured artists that are defiantly young and defiantly contemporary. They entering a conversation and speaking their minds with a Pop Art feel. Liu Wei photograph feels lika a performance when he himself hangs freely in the air with a surreal quality. The Rongling commissioned Wei to document several performance art pieces on the museum grounds. He flew like a human kite and did a headstand on a copy of Michelangelos’s David among other things. That ‘s what contemporary Chinese art looks like – and it is far from what most of us expect. The exhibition ends on February 28th, 2015.
